Mbesuma backs Kambole to succeed at Kaizer Chiefs

Zambian striker and Kaizer Chiefs legend Collins Mbesuma believes Lazarus Kambole will come good with time.

The former Zesco United goal machine has yet to hit the ground running in Naturena but two time PSL top goalscorer, Mbesuma is confident Kambole will show his true colors once he scores his first goal for Amakhosi.

“I think he played [CAF] Champions League, he was scoring, again and again, so I think it’s just a matter of time,” Mbesuma told South African online publication KickOff.com.

“You can find that you score two goals, three goals, and as a striker that brings you luck you know. Sometimes as a striker when you don’t score you still have to try… the more you try the more you miss, even the easiest goal because you just want to put it in.

“But if he finds one goal you will see a different player because I watch him, he is a national team player, with Zesco he was playing in the Champions League… he was on top of his game you know.

“Let him just find his feet, the coach and the supporters, and the management must be patient with him. For me he is a good striker, no doubt about that, it’s just a matter of time to find that one goal, two goals, then you will see.

“I think he is the one who scored the fastest hat-trick in less than five minutes in the Champions League. It’s just a matter of time. Some take longer, some adapt immediately, so it’s just a matter of time.”

Mbesuma who played for the Glamour Boys between 2004 and 2005 feels the Chipolopolo forward just needs to believe in himself.

But I think we are different players, so for me, he knows what to do better. He just has to be calm and believe in himself, in his ability. Whatever he achieved at Zesco, he can do it at Chiefs.

Mbesuma scored 25 goals in the 2004/05 season as Chiefs won the league, which remains the most league goals scored in a single PSL season.

Kambole who boasts of 7 goals for the Copper Bullets in 15 appearances has made 11 appearances for Chiefs but yet to score a goal.
