Maybe these analysts from back home, are not professional…As Mulenga calls out favoritism

KickOff Footballer Of The Season nominee Augustine Mulenga is not happy with the way South African based players are being treated in his home country of Zambia.

The 31-year-old AmaZulu star recently took his frustrations with Zambians to social media and slammed them for being unsupportive towards players playing in the Premier Soccer League.

“No, that one was just like a joke, and some they took it seriously, but I’ve explained to them I was just joking,” the former Orlando Pirates forward tells KickOff.com.

“Our colleagues who play in Europe, when they get nominated for maybe Player Of The Month or something like that, you find that the guys from back home are sharing the link like everywhere.

“But now mine, it was like just on a few groups. So I take it just like a joke. But some [when they responded] they were saying ‘No, it’s KickOff because even they didn’t publish it as they normally do.’

“I realised that just maybe these analysts from back home, maybe they were not professional because most of them they know they’ve got players who are playing in South Africa.

“They have to follow KickOff, they have to follow Soccer Laduma, so that if there’s anything going on they are updated in time you see. That’s what I was explaining to them because they were saying ‘No, some of us we didn’t know about this.’

“So, I was like, ‘Yah, you see, you guys claim to be analysts with this and that but you only focus here in Zambia and in Europe because maybe those ones they are playing in the big teams and something like that.”

Mulenga has been in supreme form for Usuthu under the guidance of Benni McCarthy with five goals and 11 assists in 24 games to fire the side into second place in the DStv Premiership.
