Manufacturers welcome Kwacha gains

Reuben Chomba-The Zambia Association of Manufactures -ZAM- says the appreciation of the kwacha against some major convertible currencies will positively impact on the economy especially the manufacturing sector.

ZAM President EZEKIEL SEKELE adds that the kwacha’s appreciation has the potential to reduce inflation and help the manufacturing sector grow.

Mr. SEKELE has however explained that the country needs to promote value addition and industrialisation to sustain the appreciation of the currency.

Meanwhile the kwacha has continued to appreciate against the major currencies on the local market

A check by ZNBC News crew at various bureaus within Lusaka found the dollars selling at 16 Kwacha and buying at 15 Kwacha for selling.
