Mansa Bishop defiler in hot soup

Masauso Mkwayaya-Police in Mansa have arrested and charged Bishop JOHN MWELWA of Healing Cross Ministries Church for two offences of Rape.

Zambia Police Spokesperson RAE HAMOONGA says the victim was raped on September 19th, after she went to Bishop MWELWA to seek help over some persistent abdominal pains that she was experiencing.

Mr. HAMOONGA says the victim was initially taken to the Bishop on September 18th, but that he asked to see the girl alone the following day so that he could remove the cotton that was in her abdomen.

Mr. HAMOONGA adds that when the girl went back the following day, she was driven to a named Lodge by the 37-year-old Bishop where she was raped.

This is according to a statement released to ZNBC News by Police Spokesperson RAE HAMOONGA.

Meanwhile Police have also arrested and charged Bishop MWELWA for another case of alleged defilement of a 15-year old girl on unknown date in March.

Facts in this case are that the Bishop was approached by parents to the 15-year-old to help their daughter to deal with a condition where milk was coming out from her breasts.

Mr. HAMOONGA says the Bishop instead asked to see the girl alone.

The Police Spokesperson adds that when the girl went back as requested, she was taken to a Lodge where the Bishop applied anointing oil on her breasts and private parts on the pretext that he was removing cotton that was stuck inside her.

The suspect is detained in Police custody and will appear in court soon.
