Magande, Mwanamwambwa honoured with National Day of Mourning

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has declared Friday as Day of National Mourning for former Finance Minister NG’ANDU MAGANDE and next week Tuesday as National Day of Mourning for former Speaker of the National Assembly AMUSAA MWANAMWAMBWA.

President HICHILEMA has accorded the two leaders with national mourning because of their contribution to the country’s development.

Acting Secretary to the Cabinet OLIVER KALABO says the two former leaders will be buried in Lusaka and Chongwe respectively on the days the President has declared as national mourning.

Dr. KALABO says Mr. MAGANDE’s official funeral service will be held at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross on Friday before being buried at the Leopards Hill Memorial Park in Lusaka.

In a statement issued to ZNBC News this afternoon, Dr. KALABO said Mr. MWANAMWAMBWA’s official funeral programme will start with a valedictory service at the National Assembly on Tuesday next week before the programme shifts to Ansdale area in  Palabana, Chongwe where he will be buried.

He says during the two Days of National Mourning, all activities of entertainment nature will be suspended and flags will fly at half mast.
