Lupando Mwape Eulogised

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has paid tribute to late former Vice President LUPANDO MWAPE for his contribution to the development of the country.

President HICHILEMA says Mr. MWAPE served the country diligently and with a great sense of patriotism and perseverance.

He has called on citizens to remember the life of Mr. MWAPE by emulating the values and principles of loyalty, humility, hard work and commitment to duty.

President HICHILEMA said this during the Memorial of Mr. MWAPE at the Memorial Park in Lusaka.

This was in a speech read on his behalf by Chief Government Spokesperson CHUSHI KASANDA.

And Catholic Priest, Father NICHOLAS MUBANGA, who gave a homily, said there is need to love and forgive one another.

Fr. MUBANGA added that the late Mr. MWAPE loved and forgave those that offended him.

Fr MUBANGA, who is also Mr. LUPANDO’s nephew, said the former Vice president was a great man and an icon that united the family.

Mr. MWAPE was Zambia’s ninth Vice-President who served from 2004 to 2006 under the late President LEVY MWANAWASA.

He died on January 21, 2019 aged 69.

Acting Secretary to the Cabinet PATRICK KANGWA, Former Vice Presidents ENOCK KAVINDELE and NEVERS MUMBA were in attendance during the event.
