LUNGU HONOURS KK WITH KASOMENO-MWENDA ROAD

A Development Analyst says President EDGAR LUNGU has honored founding President KENNETH KAUNDA’s vision by actualizing the construction of Kasomeno-Mwenda toll road and Luapula Bridge project in Luapula Province.

DAVIES KAPIJIMPANGA says the Kasomeno-Mwenda bilateral project which was proposed by a company Lonrho was accepted by President KAUNDA in the 1970s but could not be actualized.

He says the project is key as it will promote trade between Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo – DRC.

And Mr. KAPIJIMPANGA says for the first time in the history of Zambia, the private sector has decided to invest over 6-hundred Million United States Dollars in the Kasomeno-Mwenda project without asking for a sovereign guarantee.

He says this is a show of confidence and trust in both President LUNGU and his DRC counterpart FELIX TSHISEKEDI.

Meanwhile, GED Africa Country Director for Zambia MARCUS ASCOTT has expressed confidence that the delayed joint groundbreaking ceremony of the Kasomeno-Mwenda toll road and Luapula Bridge project will now take place because of the progress made on the early
works.
