LUFWANYAMA EX-FREEDOM FIGHTERS HAIL GOVT.

 

(ZANIS) Several former freedom fighters in Lufwanyama district on the Copperbelt have commended government for according first president KENNETH KAUNDA a dignified send-off.

Speaking in separate interviews, the freedom fighters also thanked government for providing them with an opportunity to follow the live burial proceedings on television.

District association chairperson GEARD PHIRI said government and its cooperating partners have made it possible to facilitate their movement to watch live funeral procession on TV at Boma government offices.

Mr. PHIRI said this demonstrates the levels of importance government has attached to the funeral and freedom fighters in the country.

And STEVEN NYAMBE appealed to politicians aspiring to be in leadership positions to take a leaf from the late founding father

ESTHER SHULA also said families of freedom fighters in Lufwanyama district will forever remember Dr. KAUNDA for the good work he did for them.

She said nearly all freedom fighters in the district are the beneficiaries of Dr. KAUNDA’s resettlement scheme for as he provided them with farmland.

Meanwhile, Lufwanyama administrative officer RUTH CHISANGA has commended stakeholders who assisted the district administration in facilitating the movement of freedom fighters to the BOMA to follow the live burial procession of the founding father.
