Lubasi Pumulo happy with her performance at CAF Champions League| COSAFA qualifiers

Green Buffaloes Women Football Club mesmerizing midfielder Lubasi Pumulo is happy with her performance at the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League | COSAFA qualification tournament.

The young midfielder said even though the team did not qualify for the 2020/21 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League final after a 1-nil loss to South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns, she is happy with her overall performance throughout the tournament as she has gained some experience.

Speaking in an interview with the ZamFoot Crew, Lubasi said the aim was to reach the final and eventually win the trophy which did not happen but she’s hopeful the team will do better next time.

“Sadly, we failed to make it to the finals, we trained enough and hard for this tournament and we aimed to win the trophy unfortunately it did not happen according to plans because our main challenge was scoring but we are hopeful will do better next time,” she said.

The 15-year old who is nicknamed after the former Barcelona and Spanish International Iniesta was a marvel to watch for Buffaloes in midfield and she said it was an honor and privilege to have been allowed to feature at the tournament and thanked the coaches for believing in her.

“It was an honor to have played a part in all the three games, the coaches gave me this opportunity and they had belief in me and that meant a lot because I also played with all my heart full of confidence knowing very well how much belief and confidence our technical bench have in me and the experience which I have gained here will help me to do well even at the national team level.”

The Zambia Army-sponsored side were in Group B alongside Black Rhinos from Zimbabwe and Tura Magic of Namibia, they lost their opening game to Rhinos Queens 2-0 before edging Magic 1-0 to secure a place in the semi-final in which unfortunately they lost 1-0 to Sundowns to be eliminated from the ongoing inaugural TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League l COSAFA Qualifiers.
