LUBAMBO MUSONDA TREKS TO DENMARK

Chipolopolo winger, Lubambo Musonda has left Polish side, Śląsk Wrocław to join Danish club AC Horsens on a permanent transfer.

Musonda leaves Śląsk Wrocław after spending two-and-a-half-years with the Silesians. In that period, he featured 57 times registering a goal and 4 assists. He played predominantly as winger and right back.

The 26-year-old joined Śląsk during Czech coach, Vitezslav Lavicki’s tenure and regularly played in the PKO Ekstraklasa, Poland’s top tier.

However, the arrival of Polish coach Jacek Magiera last season after departure of Lavicki saw playing opportunities limited for the player dubbed ‘Wing-wizard’ by Chipolopolo Faithful.

In the current season, he has featured in two matches – with Warta Poznań in PKO Ekstraklasa and with Paide Linnameeskond in the UEFA Europa Conference League. In addition, he played twice inthe reserve team and scored one goal.

With his current contract at Śląsk due to expire at the end of the season, the Polish side opted to sale Musonda to AC Horsens, a club campaigning in Denmark’s second tier league. He has joined the Danes until June 30, 2024.

AC Horsen’s Sports and talent manager Niels Erik Søndergård spoke highly of Lubambo Musonda.

“Lubambo comes with a lot of experience, even though he is only 26 years old. He has been away from Zambia for a number of years with stays in Armenia and Śląsk Wrocław, which is a fairly large club in Poland.

We are happy that we have been able to sign him. Because he will contribute with his breakthrough fervor, speed and ability to challenge both ways [defence and attack],” Niels Erik Søndergård said.

AC Horsen’s head coach Jens Berthel Askou is looking forward to working with Musonda, who he says will help raise the level in the squad.

“We have been looking for more competition in the wingback position, and Lubambo is a really an exciting player who has tried a bit of everything internationally.

He has so far in his career played in Armenia and Poland. And along the way he has been a regular in Zambia’s national team. With his qualities, he will lift us this season and going-forward,” Jens Berthel Askou remarked.

The Danish coach added, “He has eye-catching qualities in terms of his enormous speed, acceleration and good insert foot. And then he is good one on one both ways. He has all the prerequisites to speed up our offensive play and deliver some quality.

“He is a hard-working guy who will fit well into the culture.” Askou concluded, “We are very happy that he has become part of our club.

Lubambo Musonda looks forward to getting to know the club and his new teammates.

“I have familiarized myself with the club and its history. It is great for me to be part of AC Horsens and a good opportunity for me to develop even more.”

“I’ve met some of the players who seem to be some good guys and the club has some great facilities. So I’m looking forward to it. Fans can expect a player who loves to attack and will do his best for the team, ”Lubambo Musonda assured.

Currently, AC Horsens is eighth in the Danish Second Division standings. They will be in action on Thursday against Vendyssel FF.

Lubambo Musonda joins the likes of Christopher Katongo, Mwape Miti and Andrew Tembo who have all enjoyed stays with clubs in Danish Football League competitions.

In the past, Musonda played for Armenian football clubs Gandzasar Kapan and Ulysses Yerevan; and Zambian football clubs Power Dynamos and National Assembly.
