LAZ PLEDGES TO WORK WITH PARLY
By Hannock Kasama:
Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini has proposed that critical governance related matters must be resolved through an engagement process.
Dr. Matibini is opposed to legal action as a first resort on contentions over governance-related matters.
He says legal action must be considered as a last resort.
Dr. Matibini said this in Lusaka when newly elected Law Association of Zambia -LAZ- President Abyudi Shonga called on him.
He called on LAZ to involve itself on a large scale in parliamentary works.
Meanwhile, Mr. Shonga pledged that his association will collaborate with parliament in promoting law reforms.
Mr. Shonga said the amendment and repeal of imperfect laws is key to the governance process.
This is contained in a statement released to ZNBC News in Lusaka by Clerk of the National Assembly, Cecilia Mbewe.
