LAWYERS,CIVIL SOCIETY LEADERS PAID TO DISCREDIT LUNGU-CHANDA

A consortium of political parties says some disgruntled lawyers and civil society leaders have been paid to mislead the public that President Edgar Lungu is not eligible to stand in 2021.

New Congress Party Leader Peter Chanda says this is despite the people involved knowing that the decision of the Constitutional Court is final on the matter.

He says much as some people do not agree with the Judgment, they have no powers to change the fact that President Edgar Lungu will contest the 2021 elections.

Mr. Chanda says such people should be ignored because they are working with a named opposition party which is scared of losing the elections next year.

And Christian Democratic Party leader Danny Pule says aggrieved lawyers and their sponsors should accept that the Constitutional Court judgment is final.

Dr. Pule has called on Zambians to ignore all people questioning the eligibility of President Lungu.

He says Zambians must live with the fact that there is no legal impediment against President Lungu’s candidature in 2021.
