Lawyers only during presidential petition hearing – Court

The presidential election petition by the opposition UPND which is coming up in the High Court on March 15, 2017 will be held in chambers, Zambian Eye has informed.

The High Court has since informed the lawyers of both the petitioners and respondents not to allow their supporters to come to court.

No one will be allowed in court or outside premises, an insider involved in the case explained to Zambian Eye Monday morning.

There have been reports from the UPND cycles that members of International Community are in the country to attend the hearing of an election petition.

The High Court is been sought to determine whether the rights of Hakainde Hichilema and his running mate Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba were violated by the Constitutional Court when it did not hear their election petition challenging the election of Edgar Lungu and his running mate Inonge Wina.
