KK’S BIRTHDAY NOW A PUBLIC HOLIDAY

By Hector Simfukwe -President EDGAR LUNGU has declared April 28th, first president KENNETH KAUNDA’s birthday, as a national holiday.

He says the holiday will be used to honor the works of Dr. KAUNDA.

Speaking when he addressed mourners at the cathedral of the Holy Cross were the funeral service is been held, President LUNGU said Dr. KAUNDA believed in love.

He said Zambian should emulate Dr. KAUNDA by being patriotic.

President LUNGU said speaking ill of one’s country is not an act of patriotism.

The Head of State said his government will promote the One Zambia One Nation Motto.

President LUNGU also urged the KAUNDA family to remain united.

The President also commended various stakeholders who played a role in organising the funeral of Dr. KAUNDA.

Speaking at the same event UCZ synod Bishop SYDNEY SICHILIMA called for peace and love as the nation goes to the polls in August this year.

And UNIP President TREVOR MWAMBA described Dr. KAUNDA as one of the greatest statesmen of the Century.

He said Dr. was a peace maker.

And Dr. KAUNDA’s son PANJI urged Zambian to use Dr. KAUNDA’s death to reflect.

He urged opposition leaders to tell their supporters to avoid violence.
