Kasumbalesa border post up for modernization

Tamara Muswala-Copperbelt Province Minister ELISHA MATAMBO says the government will prioritize the modernization of the Kasumbalesa border post as it is one of the key areas of revenue collection for the country.

Mr. MATAMBO says the environment at Kasumbalesa border post especially this time of the rainy season is disheartening.

He says the UPND Administration will not allow people to operate in an environment that is not conducive thereby risking the lives of not only truck drivers but people that conduct business at the border.

Mr. MATAMBO said this in Chililabombwe during a tour of the facility.

And many drivers at the border have appealed to the government to modernize the area and construct ablution blocks and cooking bay to ease their transit.

Meanwhile Zambia Revenue Authority -ZRA- Kasumbalesa border post manager MARTIN BANDA said the poor road network heading towards the border is posing a challenge to their operations.
