Kasomeno-Mwenda works should start in earnest-HH

Zanis-President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has urged GED Africa to start constructing the Kasomeno-Mwenda road by November this year.

President HICHILEMA says the governments of Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo -DRC- have noted the importance of the road and agreed that the construction works should go ahead.

The Head of State says while government appreciates the structural changes to the contract since it was entered into in 2016, it is important that the bottlenecks to the commencement of the project are ironed out so that construction works can start.

President HICHILEMA was speaking when a delegation from the project contractor GED Africa visited him at State House.

And GED Africa delegation leader, LASZLO SZIJJ, said his company appreciates the urgency of the project and that it remains committed to the completion of the project.

Earlier Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, Minister CHARLES MILUPI, informed the President of the agreement between his ministry and GED Africa to start work in November using the available resources as some pending issues are being addressed.
