Kashikishi Warriors banned, Young Green Eagles use of Khosa Stadium temporarily put on hold

The Football Association of Zambia has provisionally banned Super League side Young Green Eagles from using their home ground while Eden University/National Division One side, Kashikishi Warriors has been banned pending investigations.

Young Green Eagles’ ban comes following multiple breaches of the Covid-19 protocols while Kashikishi’s ban comes after breaches of the FAZ Disciplinary Code and constitution.

“The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has provisionally suspended Eden University National Division One side Kashikishi Warriors following wide-ranging breaches of the FAZ Disciplinary Code and constitution.

FAZ has also provisionally banned Young Green Eagles Football Club from using Khosa Stadium for their home matches following multiple breaches of the Covid-19 protocols.”

According to a letter by FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala to already relegated Kashikishi Warriors made available to FAZ media, investigations on the matter have already been instituted with a provisional report from the match officials and evidence received warranting immediate action.

“The gravity of the matter has warranted immediate action whilst the full disciplinary process has been invoked. In the interim Kashikishi Warriors has been suspended from all football activities. We are suspending participation of all registered officials of Kashikishi Warriors from taking part in any football activity until further notice,” reads part of the letter.

The match involving Kashikishi Warriors and Trident FC was abandoned following attacks on referee Joseph Nyirenda who was taken to the hospital after being left unconscious. Kashala says some of the activities of Nyirenda’s assailants’ border on criminality.

FAZ has banned Khosa Stadium from hosting matches until further notice.
