Kapiri-Mposhi hit by water blues

ZANIS-Kapiri Mposhi district has been hit by a critical water shortage with some compounds going without water for two weeks.

Affected residents talked to by ZANIS complained that they have now been relying on shallow wells.

PRISSCA MWILA, a resident of Kapiri Mposhi, has appealed to the water utility firm to restore water supply to avert the outbreak of water related diseases.

And AMOS MULENGA, who runs a block making business in Hilltop Compound, explained that the shortage of water has affected his business as he has been forced to temporarily close.

And LAURENT CHIKANWA has implored Lukanga Water Supply and Sanitation Limited to re-invest in its water reticulation system to improve water supply in the area.

Meanwhile, Lukanga Water Supply and Sanitation Limited Public Relations Manager, SIWA MWEENE said the water blues being experienced in the area were as a result of a fault at a critical water pump at Lunchu water reservoir.

Ms. MWEENE said the water utility company has since started repair works of the pump to restore water supply.

She has however assured the company’s customers of restoration of normal water supply in the course of next week.
