KANDA FOREST IN WP ENCROACHED

Over 98 percent of the Kanda Forest Reserve in Mongu Western Province, has been encroached.

And government says it will NOT hesitate to relocate families that have illegally settled in the forest reserves.

Green Economy and Environment Minister, COLLINS NZOVU says this has had devastating effects of Climate Change in areas where forests have been invaded.

Mr. NZOVU was speaking when he visited Kanda Forest Reserve in Mongu Western Province.

The Minister is suddened that the illegality has led to the drying up of most of the rivers and deforestation because of massive tree cutting.

Mr NZOVU said those, who have illegally settled in some critical parts of the forests will be relocated.

And Mongu District Forestry Officer HENRY MWILA said on several occasions the forestry department has been issuing eviction notices to the illegal settlers, but the department would receive stop orders to wait until further notice.
