Kambole named Zesco United player of the season

Chipolopolo striker Lazarus Kambole was named as the 2019 transitional league player of the season at the Zesco United’s award gala. The new Kaizer Chiefs forward helped Zesco United to win the league and the ABSA scoring 16 goals in the process.

Kambole who is currently in Botswana with his Amakhosi teammates for preseason was also awarded as the most disciplined player and players player of the year.

Coach George Lwandamina was the recipient of this years chairman’s award while midfielder John Bwalya Ching’andu was named as the clubs most valuable player.

Jesse Were was named as the club top goalscorer despite being tied on goals scored in all competitions with Lazarus Kambole at 16. The Zesco United Facebook went on to even indicate that Lazarus and Jesse were nominated for the aware which was strange given that the top scorer award is an outright accolade with the winger mostly known beforehand based on goals scored in that particular season or tournament.

Defender Marcel Kalonda was named as the most consistent player ahead of Clement Mwape and Lazarus Kambole. Kenyan midfielder Anthony Akumu was named as the most improved player.
