KAMBA SLAMS ECZ ATTACKERS

The Patriotic Front -PF- in Lusaka province has observed that some opposition parties and civil society organisations want to discredit the Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ- to portray a picture that it is not capable of handling the 2021 general election.

PF Lusaka Province Secretary Kennedy Kamba says Zambians must reject attempts to ridicule the ECZ, a professional and autonomous electoral body that is headed by technocrats.

In a statement to ZNBC News today, Mr. Kamba said Zambians must believe in the electoral body as stakeholders and never involve the ECZ in sheer politics.

He said the commissioners and management at ECZ are doing everything possible, working to ensure they put up a credible, free and fair general election in 2021, starting with the ongoing voter registration exercise.

Mr. Kamba said the country can, therefore not afford to have irresponsible leaders who continue claiming that the electoral body is not ready for the 2021 general election.

He has since encouraged Zambians, regardless of political affiliation to register as voters so that they can shape the country’s democracy.
