KAFUE SUB-BASIN WINS AWARD

By Reuben Chomba- The Ministry of National Development Planning Strengthening Climate Resilience project in the Kafue sub-basin has won the African Water Change Makers award at the just-ended 2021 climate adaptation summit.

Ministry of National Development Planning Permanent Secretary Chola Chabala disclosed the development during a media briefing in Lusaka today.

Mr. Chabala said the award is people’s choice prize, which seeks to celebrate and make visible the teams and organizations that shape water decisions that build climate resilience in Africa.

Mr. Chabala added that the participants were all drawn from sub-Saharan Africa.

He explained that Zambia is implementing ambitious and life-transformation programmes that are aimed at empowering people across the country with knowledge on how to effectively mitigate and adapt to climate change and its effects.

Mr. Chabala further disclosed that the Kafue sub -Basin project is being implemented in three provinces namely Southern, Lusaka and Central covering 11 districts.

He called on other key stakeholders to continue working with government for the successful implementation of various projects.
