Kafue Distributes over 28,000 Bags of Relief Mealie Meal

Kafue district has distributed over 28,900 bags of relief mealie meal meant for the vulnerable in all the 16 wards of the district.Kafue District Commissioner Joseph Kamana has disclosed to NAIS that the district also received another 2,040 bags of mealie meal to be distributed to ten out of the 16 wards of the needy areas.Mr Kamana appealed to the committee in charge of distribution to ensure that the mealie meal coming from the Office of the Vice President goes to the intended beneficiaries.And Child Fund Chief Executive Officer for Kafue, Mwamba Mutale assured the District Commissioner that distribution of relief maize meal shall continue to be done in a transparent manner.Mr Mwamba said the identification of the needy comprises of village headmen, NGOs and government departments of the district.Meanwhile, Rise Community AID program Director Samuel Tundu said Kafue has not been spared by the adverse effects of climate change that has made the harvest of field crops to go down.He said apart from the relief maize meal, government has also distributed the maize bran to some of the farmers that have livestock in the district.
