KABWATA TO VOTE FOR MP ON JANUARY 20,2022

Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ- has set January 20th, 2022 as the date for the Kabwata Constituency Parliamentary by-election in Lusaka.

ECZ Corporate Affairs Manager PATRICIA LUHANGA says the same date has also been set for two local government ward by elections in Liangati ward of Senanga District and Sokontwe ward of Milenge District.

Ms. LUHANGA says the nominations for the by-elections will be held on Tuesday December 28th, 2021.

In a statement released to ZNBC News, that the by-election in Kabwata follows the death of the UPND Member of Parliament LEVY MKANDAWIRE and the vacancy of Liangati ward is also as a result of death of the UPND Councillor MWANGALA SILILO.

She said the Sokontwe Ward has been necessitated by the resignation of Independent Councillor VINCENT KUNDA.

Ms LUHANGA said all aspiring candidates in the by-election should lodge completed and attested statutory declaration and nominations papers subscribed before a magistrate, local court magistrate, head of Government primary or secondary school, and commissioner of oath.

She further said that candidates vying for the Kabwata Parliamentary Seat must take along 15 supporters who must be registered voters in the constituency and must also possess an NRC and voters card.
