Kabwata by election nominations open

Mark Ziligone-Three out of 10 candidates vying for the Kabwata parliamentary by election have so far successfully filed in their nominations.

The Candidates are FRED MUBANGA of the Democratic Party -DP-, PF’s CLEMENT TEMBO and CHILUFYA TAYALI of the Economic and Equity Party -EEP.

Opposition DP candidate FRED MUBANGA pledged to work towards various areas that have remained under developed in the constituency.

Mr. MUBANGA said improving sanitation and waste management in MAPULOTO area will be one of his main agendas among others.

And EEP’s CHILUFYA TAYALI said he will ensure proper checks and balances are provided when elected as Kabwata Member of Parliament.

Mr. TAYALI said he will criticize when it is necessary and give credit when Government performs to expectations of citizens.

Meanwhile PF’s CLEMENT TEMBO expressed confidence of scooping the seat saying he has a better understanding of Kabwata than any other candidate.

The nominations come after the elections initially slated for January 20th were cancelled following opposition UPP candidate’s withdrawal from the race and resigned from his party.

Other candidates are scheduled to file in their nominations before close of the exercise later this afternoon.

The Kabwata by election was necessitated by the death of UPND’s LEVY MKANDAWIRE in November last year.
