K169M DEAL FOR ROAD REHAB IN MANYINGA,KABOMPO

Government has signed a contract worth 169 million Kwacha under the Improved Rural Connectivity Project funded by the World Bank to rehabilitate and maintain roads in Manyinga and Kabompo Districts of North Western Province.

Infrastructure and Housing Permanent Secretary DANNY MFUNE says WAH KONG Enterprises, is the contractor engaged to rehabilitate and maintain the selected feeder roads.

Mr. MFUNE says the Ministry is in the next two weeks also expected to sign another contract for roads in Kasempa and Mufumbwe Districts under the project in North Western Province.

He says his Ministry has so far signed contracts for rural roads works in seven out of the country’s 10 provinces for improved rural connectivity project.

Mr. MFUNE however says works for the Copperbelt, Western and Lusaka Province under the project are on the evaluation stage and contracts will be concluded soon.

The Permanent Secretary has thanked the World Bank for its support saying the project will change the lives of the people living in the rural communities.

He said this in an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka today.
