JANNY BACK TO AFRICAN FOOTBALL

By Chansa Kunda

Zambia’s top FIFA referee JANNY SIKAZWE will this Saturday make a return to the center stage in African football as he will officiate the CAF champions’ League group D tie between Angolan sides Petro de Luanda and Sagrada Esperanca

The crucial group D encounter that will be held at the 11th November stadium will be SIKAZWE’s first match as center referee following a career threatening controversy that erupted at the 2021 Cameroon Africa Cup of Nations tournament-AFCON-.

During the AFCON, SIKAZWE’s Prowess came under heavy scrutiny when he prematurely blew the final whistle on two occasions during the Tunisia versus Mali encounter.

It was later discovered that he suffered from heatstroke and severe dehydration.

After being shelved following that encounter, the Zambian acclaimed match official heads to Angola and will be assisted by THOMAS KAELA.

And Referees Manager AZIPH BANDA says SIKAZWE’s return is of good cheer to the fraternity.

BANDA told ZNBC Sports News in an interview that officiating in this weekend’s fixture shows that CAF have regard for the referee despite all that happened.

He has since urged SIKAZWE to forget the Cameroon ordeal and focus on rebuilding his career starting with Friday’s encounter.
