It’s now Nkana or Napsa Stars… As Power Dynamos beat Forest Rangers and Eagles draw in Solwezi

By Aaron Mubanga Jnr | August 3, 2020

Luka Chamanga scored a brace as Powerful Power Dynamos beat Forest Rangers 2-1 to make sure the title race only remained between Log leaders Napsa Stars and Nkana.

The Ndola based outfit came into the match needing a win to go top and keep their title challenge alive.

Power started strong with Larry Bwalya, Dave Daka, Kondwani Chiboni, and Lameck Kafwaya combining well. Luka Chamanga opened the scores in the 16th minute with a well-taken finish from the edge of the box.

Forest Rangers made a first-half change withdrawing Conlyde Luchanga for Lameck Silwaba but still failed to make clear cut chances as the match went to the break with Abayellow maintaining their 1-0 lead.

Chamanga completed his brace 14 minutes into the second half with a brilliant chip over Mathias Kigonya to double the hosts lead. Fole Malembe were handed a lifeline after referee Audrick Nkole pointed to the spot following Jackson Kakunta’s foul on Quadri Kola inside the box, Zikiru Adams stepped up and sent Kakunta the wrong way, 2-1.

It was however too little too late as Power Dynamos held on to win the match 2-1 and end Forest Rangers quest for their first Super League title.

In Solwezi, Kansanshi Dynamos and Green Eagles played out to a goalless draw. The draw means Eagles need to beat Lusaka Dynamos to stand a chance of playing Continental football while Kansanshi Dynamos need a win against Nkwazi and hope Buildcon fails to beat Green Buffaloes.
