It’s Not True-Sports Minister

The government has dispelled reports circulating on social media that government will not fund the 2020 budget for the national football team.Minister of Youth Sport and Child Development Emmanuel Mulenga says government is mandated to ensure that all sports discipline are well financed.Mulenga says government will ensure that modalities are put in place for the national football team to participate in future football leagues to avoid what transpired to the women under 20 national team that did not participate to the all African games.He was speaking in an interview with ZNBC in Lusaka last night.And Mulenga has congratulated Sydney Siame for winning a gold medal in the 200 meters athletics and the others who have scooped a medal at the ongoing all African games in Morocco.Meanwhile,the Zambia Women’s National football team coach Bruce Mwape says the 5 nil first leg win over Zimbabwe will not change the team’s tactical approach in today’s Second leg encounter of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics qualifiers.Mwape says the players are fully aware that despite having the 5-0 advantage, complacency will cost the them a chance to qualify to the final round.He told ZNBC Sports in an interview that the team is injury free and ready to Finish off business in Harare this Afternoon.Mwape said heading into the 15:00 hours encounter the team’s game plan is to be cautious and avoid conceding goals.On Wednesday last week goals from Misozi Zulu, Grace Chanda, Rachael Nachula and Rachael Kundananji gave Zambia victory over Zimbabwe to boost their chances of qualifying to the last round of the 2020 Olympics qualifiers.And Zimbabwe will host Zambia in the second Leg tier to be played in Harare this afternoon.
