Inauguration day declared public holiday

President EDGAR LUNGU has declared Tuesday August 24th day of swearing in President – Elect HAKAINDE HICHILEMA and Vice President – Elect MUTALE NALUMANGPO as a Public Holiday.

Secretary to the Cabinet SIMON MITI says President LUNGU has done to facilitate for the smooth handling of the inauguration of the 7th Republican President and enable citizens to be part of the special event to be held at Heroes Stadium.

Dr. MITI however requested institutions which provide essential services to ensure adequate arrangements are put in place to avoid disruptions in the provisions of such services.

Government announced Wednesday that attendance to President elect HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s inauguration slated for Tuesday is restricted to only invited guests as part of observing Covid-19 preventive protocols.

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary AMOS MALUPENGA has advised citizens who will not be invited to attend the ceremony to follow the proceedings of on television, radio and online social media platforms.

Mr. MALUPENGA has further encouraged invited guests to arrive early to facilitate for security screening procedures.
