Inauguration ceremony will be peaceful-Kanganja

Brian Mwale-Inspector General of Police KAKOMA KANGANJA says police will ensure that President – Elect HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s inauguration is conducted in a peaceful environment.

Mr. KANGANJA has warned that police will not tolerate any form of lawlessness to characterize the event during and after.

And Mr. KANGANJA has commended police and various stakeholders for their contribution in the just ended general elections.

He says the peaceful conduct of police, defence and security wings, politicians and election observers, among other stakeholders, has demonstrated to other countries that Zambia is a haven of peace.

The Police Chief adds that the police command has prior to the elections crafted an electoral security plan that acted as a guide on how to effectively police the elections.

Mr. KANGANJA adds that the interventions yielded positive results despite few unfortunate incidences from criminals.

He says the directive by President EDGAR LUNGU to deploy defence personnel to complement the Zambia police service in maintaining law and order before, during and after the elections enhanced security and the management of elections.

Mr. KANGANJA has urged police officers to take keen interest in presidential directives and government pronouncements so that the service remains focused in implementing policies.

Mr. KANGANJA has further reminded officers to remain professional and always support the government of the day.
