IMENDA QUESTIONS LUKULU COUNCIL CONTRACTS

By Paul Shalala-

UPND Secretary General BATUKE IMENDA has taken to task the Lukulu Town Council for awarding eight contracts to a company which has done unsatisfactory works at Libingi Primary School.

The company had its first slab at the school demolished by the local authority for constructing a weak foundation.

Speaking when he toured some projects funded by the Constituency Development Funds -CDF in Lukulu, Mr. IMENDA expressed disappointment with the conduct of the council.

And, UPND Senior Party Member, MICHAEL CHUZU said the decision to overlook other local companies defeats government’s plan to empower local companies to win contracts under CDF.

Meanwhile, Lukulu Town Council Director of Works CHRISTOPHER SHAWA was at pains to justify why the company was awarded so many contracts.

Mr. SHAWA said the first slab at Libingi Primary School for a one by three classroom block was demolished because the contractor did not follow the laid down procedures.
