Ephraim Chiluba-Some traditional leaders in Shibuyunji District’s have condemned the alleged illegal acquisition of huge chunks of land by former government officials.

Senior headman NYAMBE from Kapyanga East, Chief SHAKUMBILA’s area says his people are living in fear as they are harassed every time they attempt to reclaim their land.

He says surveyors have continued sub dividing the local people’s farms and installing beacons from 2018 to date.

And headman MALAYA says the displacing of indigenous Zambians from their land without the involvement of the traditional leadership is unfair because they have occupied their pieces of land for a long time now.

Meanwhile some affected residents of Malaya village talked to by ZNBC NEWS have appealed to the government to treat the issue as a matter of urgency as they do not have an alternative place to relocate to with their families.

Among the most affected areas are Kawena forest 42, Malaya and Nyambe villages.
