HH urges workers to invest their 20% NAPSA funds

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has urged beneficiaries of the 20 percent partial withdraw from NAPSA to consider investing for the future.

President HICHILEMA says the decision was well thought out by government to help beneficiaries secure their future and that of their children.

He has however called for sensitisation of the beneficiaries on how best to invest their benefits.

Speaking during the Labour Day Celebrations in Lusaka today, President HICHILEMA further stated the need to identify areas that maybe giving people a problem during the application and address them.

He also stated that government is not only interested in creating jobs but also enhancing the existing ones.

President HICHILEMA said his Government wants to see growth of the labour market by growing businesses through investments and by maximizing on the existing resources.

He also stated that the wastage of public resources is a hindrance to economic growth which in turn affects job creation.

President HICHILEMA cited the costs of operating the Presidential Gulfstream and the purchasing of high powered executive vehicles for Cabinet Ministers as a huge cost to government.

And the President paid tribute to workers for their commitment to delivering services to citizens.

President HICHILEMA said the workers have performed exceptionally well despite facing some challenges in the course of their duty.

And Labour Minister BRENDA TAMBATAMBA said her Ministry has made strides in harmonizing the labour industry.

Ms. TAMBATAMBA said the Ministry has also embarked on various Radio and TV programmes to sensitize players in the labour industry on the need for a harmonized work environment.

And International Labour Organization -ILO- Country Officer PENEYAMBEKO MUNKAWA urged Government to focus on inequality, poverty alleviation and social protection by providing quality jobs.

Meanwhile, Zambia Federation of Employers -ZFE- President MYRA NGOMA called on Government to put up deliberate policies that will allow for the creation of needed number of jobs in the country.

And Zambia National Congress of Trade Unions -ZCTU- President BLAKE MULALA urged Government to consider creating decent jobs.
