HH COMMISSIONS THE TAZARA MEMORIAL PARK

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA is in Chongwe District to commission the TAZARA Memorial Park.

The Memorial Park is a site where Chinese nationals who died during the construction of the TAZARA railway line are buried.

Thirty Six Chinese nationals are buried at the cemetery that is located on top of a building housing a Museum which is within the same premises of the Park.

The Memorial Park walls have a Copper outline which depicts Zambia’s mineral wealth.

The entrance of the Museum which has Dr. KENNETH KAUNDA and Chairman MAO ZEDONG’s sculptures engraved on the walls, has several artifacts such as work suits and shoes that workers used during the construction of the 1,860 kilometers railline.
