HH CALLS FOR INCREASED AFRICA TRADE

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA called for increased trade among African countries before turning to Europe or Asia.

President HICHILEMA says African countries should take advantage of the opportunities that the African Continental Free Trade Area provides to enhance trade within the continent.

Speaking when he received letters of credence from seven Ambassadors and High Commissioners from Africa and Europe, President HICHILEMA also pledged to enhance bilateral ties, trade and investments.

The President assured the seven envoys that Zambia will continue to enhance trade and bilateral ties with their respective countries as a way of uplifting the lives of citizens.

He urged the Diplomats to freely engage government, the private sector and the opposition political parties as they conduct their work unlike the situation when he was in opposition.

The Head of State also urged the Israeli Ambassador to Zambia to ensure trade agreements with Zambia are operationalized as part of job creation and strengthening ties.

President HICHILEMA promised transparency and collaboration with other countries in his administration.

The seven diplomats are from Nigeria, Ghana, Mozambique, India, Ireland, Israel and Czech Republic.

And Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Zambia OMINIYI MWANNEBUIKE EZE acknowledged the strong ties that exist between the two countries.

He assured President HICHILEMA of his government’s commitment to enhancing mutual ties and investments.

And Ghana’s High Commissioner to Zambia KHADIJA IDDRISU stated that her President NANA AKUFO ADDO wants to work with President HICHILEMA to increase trade relations and promote investments.

She expressed happiness that President HICHILEMA has made economic diplomacy and trade as part of his policy.

And Ambassador of Ireland to Zambia BRENAGH CARR applauded Zambia for being a beacon of hope and democracy not just for Africa but the world.

Ms. CARR said Ireland is currently developing a new strategy with Zambia to share own experiences on fiscal and economic recovery.

And Ambassador of Mozambique to Zambia MONICA PATRICIO CLEMENTE MUSSA reaffirmed her commitment to growing economic diplomacy with Zambia.

Meanwhile ASHOK KUMAR India’s High Commissioner to Zambia said the international community is delighted to have witnessed the smooth transition of power after President HICHILEMA won.

He said India looks forward to further diversifying bilateral relations with the new dawn government and promote economic engagements.

Others who presented their letters of Credence are Czech Republic’s Ambassador to Zambia PAVEL PROCHAZKA who said current development corporation with his country focuses on agriculture mainly small scale farmers.

ISRAEL’s Ambassador OFRA FARHI also reaffirmed her country’s commitment to strengthen ties with Zambia.
