HH addresses a night briefing, says PF and ECZ have rigged elections

Hakainde Hichilema the main challenger to incumbent president is currently addressing a press briefing at his residence, east of Lusaka city.

The UPND presidential is explaining some of the malpractices in the just ended election citing the manipulation of results in Lusaka. He says the Gen 12, the certificate of the announced results at polling stations was not availed for the close of voting.

He says the Electoral Commission of Zambia ( ECZ ) took a decision on Saturday without stakeholders and started signing the Gen 12 form and get people who were not official agents to sign the documents.

Hichilema says Lusaka was deliberately left to allow the PF manipulate the results for them to cover up when results come in.

He also alleged that pre – marked ballot boxes were introduced to polling stations. He cited Kanyama where someone was caught with pre – marked boxes. He said the pre-marked boxes were confiscated at City Airport.

Hichilema also said  there were more than 714 registered voters at Kamanga polling station in Munali.

He said they had agreed with ECZ to setup a team that was going to look at these issues. But later ECZ changed and are going ahead to announce the results.

Hichilema says this is clear that the ECZ are colluding with the PF to rig the elections.

“The country needs to remain peaceful, Zambia needs to remain peaceful and anyone who wants to take over a country wants to take over a peaceful country,” Hichilema said.

Hichilema has appealed to the International community to help Zambia keep peace.
