HEADTEACHERS ON SPOTLIGHT

Nkana Member of Parliament Alexander Chiteme has called on parents to report any headteacher failing to comply with the directive that children should pay school fees on a termly basis.Mr. Chiteme says he has received reports that some schools are requesting parents to pay the required six-hundred-kwacha school fees at once instead of doing it in three installments. He says government through the Ministry of General Education decided that parents should pay two hundred kwacha per term and not the lamp-sum to enable pupils have access to education. The Nkana Member of Parliament who is also National Development Planning Minister urged headteachers to exercise flexibility with the payments of school fees.He says this is why government reduced fees for school going children to create a conducive education environment.Mr. Chiteme however appealed to parents to ensure they pay the full balance at the end of the year.
