HEAD OF AU OBSERVER MISSION ARRIVES

The Head of the African Union -AU- Observer Mission has arrived in the country ahead of the August 12 General Elections slated for next week Thursday.

Former President of Sierra Leone Ernest Koroma arrived at 13:30 hours at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport by Ethiopia Airline.

He was welcomed by Zambia’s high Commission to Ethiopia, Emmanuel Mwamba and some officials from the African Union.

And Speaking in an interview with ZNBC News upon arrival, Mr. Koroma said he is in the country to lead a delegation from the African Union to observe the elections.

Mr Koroma explained that there are guidelines that observers follow adding that the Union will make recommendations on good governance, human rights among others after the Elections.

He noted that this is important not only for Zambia but that for the African continent as a whole.
