By Hannock Kasama

Justice Minister MULAMBO HAIMBE, Director of Public Prosecution GILBERT PHIRI and veteran lawyer HENRY MBUSHI have been called to the inner bar following their appointments as State Counsel by President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA.

The call to the inner bar marks a transition from an ordinary to a senior or state counsel and entitles the three to occupy the front roll in court opposite the judges’ seats.

Chief Justice MUMBA MALILA presided over the ceremony where the three lawyers were called to the inner bar at the Supreme Court in LUSAKA today.

Justice MALILA urged the state counsels in the country to be role models to the members of the legal fraternity.

He also called on state counsels to play a pivotal role in legal reforms and measures to ensure speedy delivery of justice.

Meanwhile in an interview with ZNBC after the ceremonial call to the inner bar, Mr. HAIMBE  affirmed his commitment to upholding professionalism in the legal fraternity.

And Mr. MBUSHI pledged to diligently contribute to upholding ethics in the legal profession.
