A mining expert, EDWARD SIMUKONDA has urged Government to consult widely before making any decision involving Mopani Copper Mines.

This follows remarks made by Mines and Minerals Development Minister PAUL KABUSWE that Government is pondering on reversing the US$1.5 billion exit deal by Glencore from Mopani.

Mr. SIMUKONDA says technocrats should be brought to the table if government is to strike a better deal.

He told ZNBC news that there is hope that Mopani can come back to life but that this can be achieved through extensive Government engagements with stakeholders.

Meanwhile, Private Sector Development Association -PSDA- Chairperson YUSUF DODIA has called on Government to be cautious in addressing the issues around the Mine.

Mr. DODIA said if Government has found convincing reasons such as the alleged ill motives in the exit deal, it will be progressive to reverse the deal.

On Thursday, Mr. KABUSWE announced that government is considering reversing the exit deal between Glencore and ZCCM-IH citing many illegalities.
