GOVT TO SUPPORT FARMERS TO PRODUCE FOR EXPORT

Government is working towards supporting local farmers to reduce importation of agricultural products that can be produced locally.
Commerce Minister CHIPOKA MULENGA says Zambia can NOT continue to import agriculture products that can be produced by locally.
He says supporting local farmers will also empower them to produce more products and increase exports to neighbouring countries.
Mr. MULENGA was speaking after a meeting with the Zambia National Farmers Union -ZNFU-at their office in Lusaka.
And ZNFU President JERIVS ZIMBA appealed to Government to consider banning importation of Agro products that are produced locally.
Mr. ZIMBA said government should come up with measures that will grow the Agriculture sector.
