GOVT TO IMPROVE TEACHERS CONDITIONS

By Michael Kuamba-

Government says improving working conditions for teachers, especially those in rural areas is a top priority for the New Dawn administration.

Education Minister DOUGLAS SYAKALIMA says government is aware of the sacrifices and tough conditions teachers operate in just to execute their duties.

Mr SYAKALIMA has urged teachers to be patient as his ministry transforms the education sector following the recruitment of over 30,000 teachers and the introduction of the free education policy.

The minister said this in LUSAKA when he received learning materials on behalf of Jedidiah learning steps school of Lusaka from Klaptone Reinsurance Limited.

At the same occasion, UPND KAFUE Member of Parliament MIRRIAM CHONYA encouraged the private sector to aid community based schools in her area.

Earlier, Klaptone Reinsurance Limited Chief Executive Officer WEBSTER TWAAMBO said his firm decided to help the Jedidiah learning steps because of the work it is doing in educating vulnerable children in society.
