Govt To Equip Health Facilities-Masebo

ZANIS-Health Minister SYLVIA MASEBO says the government will equip health facilities with to ensure quality health care service delivery to the citizens.

Ms. MASEBO says the procurement process will soon start when her ministry concludes the needs assessment.

The minister said this today after a visit to UTH Children’s Hospital.

She has also indicated that government will this year consider purchasing imaging equipment for the children’s health facility.

Ms. MASEBO observed that since the University Teaching Hospital -UTH- was divided into five different hospitals, the children’s hospital has been facing challenges with imaging equipment.

And Ms. MASEBO said government will also improve the drug situation in the country.

She said the Ministry of Health will look at how best the drug debt which health facilities are grappling with can be resolved to avoid compromising service delivery.

Ms. MASEBO also noted that the water supply, laboratory and human resource are other main areas that government will address at the health institution.

And during the commemoration of the World Patient Safety Day at the Women and Newborn Hospital, Ms. MASEBO said patient safety is a mandate in providing quality health services to the people especially women and children.

And World Health Organisation Country Representative, NATHAN BAKYAITA, said through his representative, Dr. RUEBEN SHIKANGA, that the World Patient Safety Day is important to raise awareness on patient safety.
