Govt to ensure professionalism in Public Service

By Sharon Siame

Secretary to the Cabinet PATRICK KANGWA says Government will strive to attain service excellence and professionalism in the Public Service.

Mr. KANGWA said this in a speech read for him by Cabinet Office Permanent Secretary Special Duties CHEMBO MBULA.

This was during a Legal Seminar on professionalism in the public service organised by the Law Development Commission in Lusaka.

He called on the Commission to closely collaborate with his office to ensure that the much-needed policy and legal reforms in the public service bring about professionalism.

And Zambia Law Development Commission Chairperson RUTH CHIBBABBUKA, in a speech read on her behalf by Commission Vice Chairperson MUNUKAYUMBWA MUNYIMA noted that Zambia’s public service ranks relatively low on the global stage.

Justice CHIBBABBUKA said the low ranking is attributed to levels of corruption and fiscal accountability among others.
