Govt to decentralise TB diagnosis,treatment

Paul Shalala-The Ministry of Health will this year decentralize screening, diagnosis and treatment of Tuberculosis to primary health care levels in three districts as a pilot project.

Health Minister SYLVIA MASEBO says this is owing to low detection of TB among children.

Ms. MASEBO was speaking in Lusaka this when she opened the Regional Consultation on the Management of TB in Children and Adolescents for High Burden and Priority Countries in Africa.

She said only 62 percent of children with TB had been detected as of last year, which is way below the United Nations target.
