GOVT TERMINATES 197 FEEDER ROAD PROJECTS

Government has terminated 197 Feeder Road contracts countrywide.

Ministry of Local Government Permanent Secretary – Administration MAAMBO HAAMAUNDU has since directed councils to ensure that all affected contractors stop working.

Mr. HAAMAUNDU says the move has been done owing to over procurement of road projects.

He says the move is meant to protect both the contractor and government as both parties need to have a mutually beneficial relationship.

Mr. HAAMAUNDU adds that some contractors finished works but were not paid while others did not even move on site but were given advance payments.
Appearing on ZNBC’s 13 hours television news, Mr. HAAMAUNDU stated that government now wants to manage the sector better then was the case previously.
