Govt seeks funds to include more youth on national internship program-Nkandu

Youth, Sport and Arts Minister ELVIS NKANDU has disclosed that government is sourcing for more funds to increase the number of youths to be placed under the National Youth Development internship programme.

Mr. NKANDU says government wants to increase the number of youths from the targeted 2 thousand to over 10 thousand.

AND Mr. NKANDU has encouraged Youths in the country to apply in numbers for the pilot 12 month Internship Programme.

He says youths should start sending applications from today to 17th January which is the closing date.

He has encouraged Youths outside Lusaka to submit their applications to the District Commissioners offices in their locations.

Mr. NKANDU says the program being held in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program- UNDP is meant to mitigate unemployment levels in the country.

The Minister has told ZNBC NEWS that the youths will be placed in various ministries and organizations to assist them gain experience.

And a ZNBC News crew found a number of youths dropping applications for the Internship Program at the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts.

Youths spoken to encouraged their colleagues to take advantage of the initiative introduced by government.
