Govt mulls 2023 FISP changes

Christopher Miti-Agriculture Minister Reuben Mtolo says government will make some changes to the Farmer Input Support Programme in the 2022/2023 farming season.
Mr Mtolo says government will not give inputs to cooperative chairpersons on behalf of the farmers because sometimes they end up selling the inputs.
He says government wants all the registered farmers to receive inputs on their own.
Mr Mtolo says the government will be strict on inputs distribution so that it carters for actual beneficiaries.
He says government wants new cooperatives to benefit from the programme.
Mr Mtolo was speaking to traditional leaders who benefited from carbon credit under the Community Markets for Conservation COMACO in Chipata.
