Govt, Millennium Challenge pen US$8.3 million deal

Government and the Millennium Challenge Corporation -MCC- have signed a compact development grant worth US$8.3 million aimed at enhancing the agriculture sector.

Speaking during the signing ceremony in Lusaka today, Finance Minister SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE said the grant will assist Zambia to enhance its agriculture production through investments in infrastructure.

Dr. MUSOKOTWANE said investment in agriculture infrastructure will lead to job creation for youths countrywide.

And MCC Principal Deputy Vice President KYEH KIM said she is positive that the grant will unlock doors in Zambia’s agriculture sector.

Meanwhile United States Ambassador to Zambia MICHAEL GONZALES said Zambia is a country of vast land and that the grant will help identify areas to further boost agriculture.
